The 2020 Academy Awards is right around the corner. Unlike last year that I felt the entertainment business was pretty quiet and the awards announcement were not very exciting, this year there are many fascinating movies queuing in the line. They are all worth keeping our eyes on and here are the ones I personally like and believe they are worth every award in the world.

Best Picture

Well-deserved nominees as follow
1917
Ford V Ferrari
Joker
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Parasite
The Irishman
Little Women
Jojo Rabbit
Marriage Story

I’ve been trying the best I could to keep up all the movies that I think would be nominated for Oscars throughout the entire year of 2019 and early 2020. And even though I love Ford V Ferrari, Parasite, The Irishman and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood very much, I think 1917 will win this.

1917
The story of two young English soldiers with a mission to deliver a message that could save 1,600 soldiers during World War I. Best Picture for me is the movie that leaves some indescribable feeling with us after we left the cinema or after the movie ended. And this guy here did exactly what should be done. There were thrill, excitement and emotional feeling in one movie. Plus, they added those charming British actors to surprise you. So if you haven’t watched it yet, I recommend you do it today.

The movie I think should also win: Ford V Ferrari

Best Actor

Nominees as follow
Jonathan Pryce from The Two Popes
Adam Driver from The Marriage Story
Antonio Banderas from Pain and Glory
Joaquin Phoenix from Joker
Leonardo DiCaprio from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

With all those brilliant performances, I believe this one is quite obvious for everybody that Joaquin would win.

Joaquin Phoenix from Joker
Honestly, I think this Joker role is quite boring to win the awards. There were many actors that have played the role before such Jack Nicholson, Jared Leto and Heath Ledger who has also won the awards in the same role. But, anyway, Jaoquin has been in many roles that I love. For example, Johnny Cash in Walk The Line and Theodore in Her. He is apparently a good actor and I think he deserves it.

The actor I think should also win: Christian from Ford V Ferrari (didn’t even get nominated)

Best Actress

Nominees as follow
Charlize Theron from Bombshell
Renée Zellweger from Judy
Cynthia Erivo from Harriet
Scarlett Johansson from Marriage Story
Saoirse Ronan from Little Women

I have to admit that I haven’t yet watched Bombshell. So this is going to be a complete guess. From the performance I have seen and the awards that have been given earlier, I guess Renée would win this

Renée Zellweger from Judy
In this role, she played July Garlands, a famous American actress, singer and dancer. And although I’m impressed with so many roles that she has done, I think this one is phenomenal. If she wins, this is going to be her 2nd Oscars already. She had won before in the supporting role of Cold Mountain.

The actress I think should also win: No idea at all.

Best Supporting Actor

Nominees as follow
Anthony Hopkins from The Two Popes
Brad Pitt from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Joe Pesci from The Irishman
Al Pacino from The Irishman
Tom Hanks from A Beautiful Day In The Neighbourhood

I love all of these guys’ performance. But of course, I hopefully Brad Pitt will win this

William Bradly Pitt from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Brad played Cliff Booth, an easy-going stuntman. He was funny, chill and he took his shirt off. He took home the Oscars once in 2013 as a producer of 12 years a slave. He had been nominated as the best performing for 3 times from Twelve Monkeys, Moneyball and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The actor I think should also win: every name above.

Best Supporting Actress

Nominees as follow
Kathy Bate from Richard Jewell
Margot Robbie from Bombshell
Scarlett Johansson from Jojo Rabbit
Florence Pugh from Little Women
Laura Dern from Marriage Story

Again, I have to admit that I haven’t watched 2 movies on the list. So I’m not sure if I should predict this one. But just for fun, I think Laura Dern was hilarious in the Marriage. Every scene she was in, though there were not that many, they were all memorable. She already won the Globes so I guess she might win the Oscars as well.

Best Director

Talented nominees as follow
Quentin Tarantino from Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
Todd Phillips from Joker
Bong Joon-ho from Parasite
Martin Scorsese from The Irishman
Sam Mendes from 1917

I certainly think these guys are all well deserved the awards on this category. They are truly talented that their movies this year were nominated for Best Picture. And among all these phenomenal pieces of work, I assume Sam Mendes will home the Oscars.

Sam Mendes from 1917
You guys might be familiar with some of his works already. He’s the director of American Beauty, Skyfall and the two films that were done with a long shot technique; Spectre and Road to Perdition. But unlike those two that the continuous shot technique didn't seem to help much with the story, 1917 was well narrated absolutely because of this method. The long-shot technique helps the audience to understand the story, the feelings of the actors and difficulty of the mission that needs to be done.

I guess that’s it for 2020. I hope they’ll provide a lot more masterpiece for us to watch this coming year. I love films so much I don’t know how my life would turn out to be without it. Below will be the prediction I do just for fun.

Best Foreign Language Film: Parasite

Best Original Music Score: Joker

Best Original Screenplay: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
I also hope Parasite will win this

Best Adapted Screenplay: The Irishman

Best Sound Editing: Ford V Ferrari

Best Animated Feature: Toy Story 4
My heart is leaning toward Klaus tho : )

Best Visual Effect: Avengers: End Game
